Why why why am I so broke?!?! Look at this beautiful dress. I am a sneakers and jeans girl but nothing gets me like a good vintage piece. Please check out this beautiful piece from Thirteen Bees Vintage (they have plenty of other drool-worthy pieces. I am sizing up my finances and a purchase may just be on the horizon. This is exactly the kind of piece my friend Ray would love. Check out her London Fashion Week posts if you can.

Meanwhile back home, these wooden bracelets from local brand Tee&Whiskey are looking really appealing.

Kristian Hammerstad

Love love love these pieces by Kristian Hammerstad. I can just picture the dark, smokey rock and roll den these images emerged from. Would love to see these pieces in the album artwork for a Queens Of The Stone Age record (drool). So hard to pick a few to post.

Reminds me of this piece I did for local Cape Town band, The Mochines, a while ago. Well, kinda.

Loerie Reflect

So disappointed I did not attend the Loerie party hosted by between10and5. I am a huge fan of their site. Can't wait to see the photos of all the schmoozing that took place.

Unfortunately, the winners in design categories did not blow me away - and its usually the part of Loeries I am in awe of, and is often followed by bouts of self pity. I am excited to see this piece by Humanoid for their new corporate identity. Also, really keen to see more work from Johnny Kotze (most famously of the band Johnny Neon). He did really well and I am amped to see quite a few new, exciting illustrators coming into the industry. Especially University of Stellenbosch grads, such as myself.

So unfortunately, my agency won jack! Walking around town empty-handed felt pretty awful to be honest, but booze soon cured that heartache. It ended up being really fun. I still have a nagging feeling I have to make some hard decisions concerning my career and location. Oh dear, and I suffer from severe indecision. I will move forward with this mantra. Passion for what I do is prime.

Party Time!

So tonight is the Loeries. I am up for some finalists, so please everyone, hold thumbs! The first award's night is usually quite chilled, yet it still calls for a bit of glamour from the everyday. I have decided to do a take on the men's suit: a great pair of billowy camel trousers; a playful shirt; a tuxedo jacket; and these killer heels courtesy of Nine West. They look a bit lame in this image but trust me they are gorgeous.

The thing with the heels is, well, I NEVER wear heels. I am a definite sneakers girl but I am deciding to spruce up my image. Its gonna be a big surprise for a lot of people. And besides, these aren't too girly now, are they?

Fashion Remorse

Still kinda bummed that I did not go all out on the shopping front whilst in New York (what was I thinking- trying to be thrifty?). I did leave with a small purchase that I can't wait to prance around in this spring. This vintage-inspired piece from Urban Outfitters. Definitely my style.

I have to say the store looked completely disastrous when I was there because there were sale items strewn all over the place. And as wonderful as that sounds, it was difficult to find the good stuff.

Tokyoflash Japan

Check out these awesome LED watches from Tokyoflash Japan. I would love to own one of these Knightrider inspired beauties. It would be purely decorative though, as trying to calculate the time whenever I look at it would get to me. Check out the instructional videos that accompany each model which detail how to use the watch.

Blog block!

Oi, I have been terrible at posting anything during the last two weeks. I keep over-analyzing my post choices, and when I find the perfect one, I run out of time to get around to it. Drat! I will be better. And not hold back!

Also, I have just returned from a crazy week in New York City for work. Yup, a far way from Cape Town for a bit of photography. I spent so much time in the photographer's studio and very little time exploring our trying to visit the places that one of my favourite blog-authors always mention. Also, the hotel I stayed in was not Wi-Fi friendly due to their renovations - yet another wall to my blogging!

I have a lot to tell. So watch this space!

"So I came to Europe to kill, and it really worked out very well for me"

Yup, it's going to be another late one for me I'm afraid, but all for a greater cause I'm sure.

Got distracted by the deranged, genius schtick of Steve Martin as Dr Michael Hfuhruhurr and the sexy Kathleen Turner as Dolores last night in The Man With Two Brains. You have to see it - a really great laugh.

A bit of type now

I just redid my blog header with awesome typeface, History, courtesy of the playful Peter Bilak.

Suntan at my desk

Gloomy winter weather here is really starting to tire me out. I am over duvets and hot chocolate and instead crave swimming pools and margaritas. So I recently downloaded the Mondo Boys mixtape, Weird Summer, to get me ready for those heady days.
Yes, its finally happened. I have bought a ticket, boarded the train and started a blog.

I will be sharing with you exciting and inspiring finds, especially out of my hometown Cape Town.
First post coming soon (cue: corny train sound reserved for drunken parties only).
