Four Eyes

So sad. I went to the opthamologist this morning with hopes to be admitted for Lasik eye surgery. I have been wearing specs for 22 years. I felt like I needed a change and a new lease on life. I'm looking for a new job, new love, summer is here - why not get a new look, right? Unfortunately, I am not suitable candidate for the surgery as my corneas are too thin. It is something I was born with and will have to live with. Really disappointed, but am reassured that technology advances everyday and maybe they'll make something that'll work for me.

If only they could spend some time developing better sunglasses for the severely vision impaired instead of thick lenses in crappy frames, or [eek] clip-ons! My extreme sensitivity to objects in my eye and light prevents me from getting darn contact lenses, But I need decent sunnies. Darn it! Weak eyes = sensitive eyes = no contact lenses = no fancy sunnies = [eek] clip-ons!

So, to cheer me up, I am perusing Extreme Eyewear and other spectacle stores for a new set of frames. If I am gonna be stuck with them, they'd better be awesome. Nerd!

Check out these from Extreme Eyewear.

Ashtray Electric

Spent most of my day listening to great local band Ashtray Electric courtesy of my friend Alice. They have been on the up and up for a while now and I have seen them a few times now, including one awesome gig at The Assembly a few weeks ago. Their song Quite Overstared has been doing the rounds but I really think Seasons is a great track. Check them out at Assembly with The Dirty Skirts, and at The Castle with AKing this weekend! Oooh, links galore!

Hungry

Been working like a crazy person lately (yeah, yeah what's new?) and it seems I am forgetting to eat. And trust me: I'm an eater. I'm dreaming of delicious curry and tarts from The Neighbourhood Goods Market. Ooh, Malay vegetable curry, pancakes and cider. Chorizo, peppermint ice cream and Mule cocktails. Yum yum, I can't wait 'til Saturday.

Do check out their Vintage Market on Sundays (ignore very dodgy webpage) - the variety isn't very big but I was pleasantly surprised by the prices. It's probably just a matter of time before they get pushed up though.

Espejo house

Who the heck lives here? And why are we not the best of friends?

Househunting

Oi, wish me luck. I am house hunting this weekend. Looking for a compact, airy space, in a safe neighbourhood, and within my budget. Not too much to ask, is it? Checking out some inspiration for a new look in my very own space. I'm thinking pops of saturated colour on a clean white canvas. I've always loved this image above (via fffound) - feels open, fun, yet lived in.
